KSFA Tubertini 2015 Doubles League 2015 Overview

20/04/2015 22:17

This year's league had a new and a fundamental regulation, and the first time that a Maltese fishing club started using these types of rules.

All anglers on equal terms with regards to both fishing and ground bait, including quantities.

These were provided prior the start to each competition.

In this way the league was the most fair for all since everyone started on the same foot.

A total of 14 Teams registered for this League, an increase of 2 teams from last year.
In total the league consisted of 5 Matches, having 3 of the venues new for KSFA competitions. These were held between end of January till mid-April.

A total of 74.34Kgs of fish were caught (a high percentage of the fish was released back in it's habitat after each competition), at an average of 14.868Kgs per match.

It was a nice competition where the fish caught most were annular Bream, wrasses  and common Pandora.

Also some pegs had some nice sized mullets.

One of these was caught by Club Secretary Jonathan Vella that was the biggest fish for the league recorded weighing 630Grms.

Match 3:-  Birgu - Toqba       Date:-  15th March

It was a really windy morning and before starting it was already clear that with clear waters and a forceful wind it was going to be a difficult match.

Unfortunately again weights were quite low but still much better than the previous match.

Bogue fishing made the biggest difference.

The fastest team that adapted most to the weather and fish won the competition.

Also it should be noted that 3 overalls had some nice specimens of sparli and bottom fish.

A new venue was tried and as expected members where really eager to try it.

Till now no Official Club had organised a competition on this quay.

Yet again, the competitors where again faced with a Force 5 Wind from their sides.

Still it immediately got noticed that fish were biting much more than the 2 competitions we had before.

Last match for the KSFA Tubertini Doubles League was held at Valletta underneath the Fort St. Elmo fortifications.
